R&D Fabric Developer
As a R&D Fabric Developer, you will be responsible for driving innovation in textiles and fabrics within our PPE and workwear lines. You will conduct in-depth research on the latest technical trends and market developments, providing valuable insights to elevate our product development. You will work closely with our team and suppliers to develop products that meet the highest quality and safety standards.
Job description
- Support alsico group’s vision for PPE and workwear through textile innovation, research, and development.
- Conduct in-depth research on the latest technical trends and competition within the textile and workwear sector.
- Organize and oversee relevant fabric and wearer trials; accurately analyze results from internal, independent, and mill test reports.
- Ensure compliance with quality, ethical, and legal standards for all fabric developments.
- Keep knowledge up-to-date on PPE regulations and standards.
- Manage alsico’s fabric library to support product development.
- Develop fabric specifications and provide accurate status updates on ongoing projects.
- Understand commercial laundering processes and their impact on workwear and PPE.
- Attend trade fairs and supplier meetings to support textile innovation.
Profile
- Education: Master’s degree in Textile Technology or Chemistry.
- Personal qualities: Proactive, solution-oriented, and a true team player with a hands-on mentality.
- Work style: Accurate and structured, with strong analytical skills.
- Language skills: Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of French and Dutch is an asset.
- Technical skills: Excellent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with ClickUp and SAP is a plus.
- Sustainability & innovation: Knowledge of fiber/material sustainability, circularity, and innovations in textiles.
- Analytical ability: Ability to analyze materials and fabrics based on written specifications and test reports.
- Communication: Strong communication skills for liaising with suppliers and customers.
