giving old garments a second life
As part of the ARX initiative, alsico is working with Zijlstra Beroepskleding and Caparis to create a circular system for used professional garments of the elderly care organisation Kwadrant. Each partner contributes to extending the life of textiles and reducing waste.
collection and sorting at Caparis
Garments are collected and sorted at Caparis, where teams separate them by colour to identify what can be repurposed or recycled. This work plays a central role in building practical circular textile solutions.
The process also creates valuable employment opportunities through social inclusion, combining environmental impact with social purpose. Together with Alsico, Zijlstra and Kwadrant, Caparis shows how circular workwear, sustainability and inclusion can reinforce each other.

processing at the ARX Garment Collector
From Caparis, the sorted garments are transported to the ARX Garment Collector in Ronse. Here, textile materials are processed for recycling or repurposing, transforming end-of-use workwear into new, valuable resources. This step plays a key role in reducing waste and maximising the lifespan of professional clothing.
working toward circular textile solutions
The process is well-structured and advancing. Together with our partners, we continue to develop circular textile solutions and drive progress in sustainable workwear.
By rethinking how professional clothing is collected, sorted and repurposed, we are shaping a more sustainable approach to textile recycling. Each step brings new insights. We move forward with a shared goal: building practical, scalable solutions for circular workwear.
“It’s good to know our old clothing is being repurposed and that it doesn’t end up in a landfill.”
